Placidochromis spec. gold Mbamba Bay
These are an extremely rare Placidochromis, apparently only collected in the wild once back in the 1990’s. I believe due to their natural habitat being 60 meters below sea level at this single location in the lake.
It can take up to 3 to 4 days to get them to the surface by raising them up from the depths only 15-20 meters a day in nets/cages. Thus, it is not economically feasible to catch them in the wild, when so many other nice cichlids live closer to the surface.
Imported from Germany.
I have 4 males left to sell around 4.0” for sale. $85 each.
